Have you felt like ALL that information that comes with a pattern is overwhelming? Are you confused by the array of markings ... dots and triangles, lines and arrows? Just like markings on a map, these symbols guide your sewing journey. We will decode the information on the outside of the envelope and then dive into everything you will find on the inside. All that information will become much more clear and explain those terms which may be an entirely new language for you. We will look at the pattern pieces, talk about the critical markings on them and layout a pattern on fabric. This is a lecture based class. Please come prepared to take notes and questions you may have encountered when working with a pattern.
Put your sewing skills to good! Sew Inspired Fabrics is partnering with 4TheChildren to give you the opportunity to sew a dress for a vulnerable child. 4TheChildren is a Whatcom County 501 C3 nonprofit that provides hand-made dresses from donated fabric for vulnerable children to help prevent child trafficking. We have made and sent over 700 dresses, to Tanzania, Mexico, Canada and the US. A child that looks cared for is less likely to be taken. We are grateful for your time and willingness to give. Sew this dress and make a difference.
Have you been avoiding making projects with zippers? Fear not, become confident! This workshop will show you the simple techniques to install a good looking zipper every time. We will have hands on learning of how to install 3 zipper applications: a centered zipper, a lap zipper, and and invisible zipper. If you have a project in the works that involves a zipper, you can bring that in. Otherwise, the "practice" zippers and fabric will be provided for you. You will take home your finished samples to inspire you to create projects using these techniques.
